Personal Note
Mr. B. here . . . I want to thank you for visiting my website. And
for those of you who have purchased my art, visited a workshop or visited
one of the art shows I attend, thank you too. Without your support I
would still do what I do . . . I just would not enjoy it as much. May
God continue to bless and protect you.
Mr. B.

Sarasota, FL 34234
Grand Opening
& Ribbon Cutting is at 5:30pm.
Mr. B will have 8 painting on display. EVERYONE
should attend this special opening.
Look for the Marietta Museum of Art & Whimsy grand opening
on Saturday, October 9 on the North Trail in Sarasota, Florida, according to
The Observer. The museum takes over the building most recently occupied by
Joan McGee's Serendipity
Gallery and before that the Kancha Buddhist Center.
Now painted pink and hosting a flock of plastic pink flamingos, the building
is undergoing renovation to become an eccentric museum aimed at adults,
according to an article in The Observer (December 9, 2009).
I can't wait to see what Marietta Lane, artist and museum founder, puts on
display.
"You'll find mostly American artists here - 98% of whom are still alive,
which is what makes my museum very, very unusual. Other museums only
showcase the work of the dead," Lane told The Observer.

Britannica Concise Encyclopedia: folk art
Art produced in a traditional fashion by peasants, seamen, country artisans,
or tradespeople with no formal training, or by members of a social or ethnic
group that has preserved its traditional culture. It is predominantly
functional, typically produced by hand for use by the maker or by a small
group or community. Paintings are usually incorporated as decorative
features on clock faces, chests, chairs, and interior and exterior walls.
Sculptural objects in wood, stone, and metal include toys, spoons,
candlesticks, and religious items. Folk architecture may include public and
residential buildings, such as eastern European wooden churches and U.S.
frontier log cabins. Other examples of visual folk arts are woodcuts,
scrimshaw, pottery, textiles, and traditional clothing.
